I originally picked this book up because it was the Booksplosion BOTM for March.....
It was getting so much hype from the Booktube Community because it was the second Read-A-Long book, and everyone was excited that the first month had worked out and yadda yadda. I was so stoked for this book that I went out and bought when I heard it was the BOTM, and I hadn't bought a hardcover book in SO LONG! I was seriously on an e-book streak, and this sparked my recent addiction for buying books again. I read it a while ago so here's my Goodreads review I wrote when I had just finished the book :
4 stars because the beginning had me super hooked, but it lost me a bit near the end. The ending wasn't entirely fulfilling in my opinion, but it certainly wasn't bad at all. I thought the idea of Panic was really cool, and I liked the characters. Sometimes I can find dual POVs annoying, and I like reading one more than the other, but I actually really enjoyed both Heather's and Dodge's chapters. The characters were all interesting, and never boring. The back cover flap said that it was considered for a movie, and I definitely think it could be an entertaining movie! Another thing I likes was how the book was sectioned off by dates so you really knew how much time had elapsed between each challenge and everything that happened. I found it pretty predictable at some points, but once was because of extremely obvious foreshadowing so I'm not sure if that's good or bad..... Anyways, I would recommend this book to people who are looking for a good stand alone to not invest yourself into a huge series, or if you just came off of a series (I did)
I really did think that the idea of Panic was awesome, and I still think that it will be a super sick movie. However, once I watched the live show with all the booktubers, though I didn't feel as strongly as they did, I do agree that the sectioning by dates was kind of pointless... but I didn't hate it at all. I do agree though, that it could have been cooler. I still think that the ending was super anticlimactic, and lots of things were predictable. Nevertheless, it was still an entertaining book, and I had just finished reading a series, and I needed a buffer book before I started reading another. For that purpose, it was the PERFECT story.
