Halloween HandBOOK: Tessa Gray COSTUME TUTORIAL

Costume tutorial for Tessa Gray from The Infernal Devices trilogy by Cassandra Clare

In today's Halloween HandBOOK tutorial, I am going to be showing you hair, makeup, and a possible outfit option for a Tessa Gray costume. I love the Infernal Devices, as does my friend Emma, and so when I asked her who she wanted to be for this Halloween series, it came as no surprise that she picked Tessa.
I've created a video on my YouTube channel showing the steps we took to get her done up like Tessa. Underneath the video, I'll include the list of products we used, as well as some costume suggestions. Finally, at the very end of this post, I'll have a full photo gallery of all the photos I took.\

MAKEUP USED
Emma just did her typical face makeup and eyebrow routine, but on her eyes we used the following products:

1. Eye shadow base: Mac's "Indianwood" Paint Pot

2. Eye shadow- lid colour: "Chopper" from Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette
3. Eye shadow- crease colour: Stila's "Sandstone"
4. Eye shadow-liner: "Blackout" from Urban Decay's Naked 2 Palette
5. Eye shadow- brow highlight: mixture of "Foxy" and "Booty Call" both from Urban Decay's Naked     2 Palette
6. Mascara- Maybelline's "The Falsies"

COSTUME:

For the Tessa inspired costume, Emma and I decided on this black maxi-dress whose neckline resembles the neckline of Tessa's dress on the cover of Clockwork Princess. We opted against going full out Victorian Era with the dress simply because we did not have the resources to do so. However, if you do, props to you, and you can just take our makeup/hair ideas! We threw on a beaded shawl over her shoulders in order to get a fancier look. Finally, instead of Tessa's clockwork angel necklace, we used an actual clock; we took a pocket watch that I had, and we looped it like a necklace. We decided that this was a suitable alternative because it keeps the thematic significance of the clock and the whole constant ideal of the clocks in this series. Finally, we didn't really do anything for shoes, however, heeled lace-up boots are the way to go!
